Oscar & Owen- waiting for the Blue Angels
**************************************************
Owen LOVED this! Skip & I did, too. I think I remember going to this back when my Uncle Tom came to visit-- I must've been around 8-9 years old?... (Hi, Uncle Tom!) I still think it's just awesome to watch the Blue Angels soaring overhead; they are amazing! Oscar also seemed to enjoy it but, frankly, he was more interested in his hot dog and whatever other food he could get his hands on. Typical Oscar.**************************************************
Rocco was a little lethargic... having some issues that day from what we fear may be a milk allergy. The jury's still out on this, but we've since switched him to soy milk and he seems to be getting better. We think. He's still had a few outbreaks, though, so now we wonder if it's not just milk but all dairy. ugh. The trial-and-error experimenting continues... In the meantime, he just looks splotchy. Poor guy. (He seemed to like watching the planes, nonetheless.)

Timexes
The boys got watches that they wear everyday. They love them. Owen really enjoys telling us what time it is. When we were at the fair, a guy came up and asked me what time it was. Afterwards, Owen said, "I wish someone would ask me what time it is because I think telling time is fun!"

A Visit from G
Oscar was thrilled to have someone to dress silly with while Owen was at school...

Owen's First (self-made) Paper Airplane
He was so proud of building his own plane. I think he was shocked that it actually flew!

ROCCO'S FIRST STEPS!!
I don't have a picture of this or anything, but I'm working on catching this new skill on video soon. Rocco still prefers crawling, but on this day he walked in front of all of us while we were hanging out in the family room watching a Disney special together. He looked so proud of himself afterward! Owen & Oscar seemed very proud of him, too. :) Since then, he's walked many more times, but only 3-4 steps at a time. Still, he's definitely on the way to being a full-fledged, getting-into-everything nightmare now! Yay... (?)

Cumberland County Fair 2007

86 degrees when we arrived at the fair at 5pm. Yep. (Reference last year's Fair post where the boys are wearing fleeces...) This heat was weird since we are used to the fair being synonymous with chilly weather and steaming apple crisps and hot cocoas to warm up... We usually are wearing mittens at the fair- but not this year!
Oscar ready to bungee bounce at the fair

We visited the petting zoo for a bit... And the kids were allowed 3 midway rides of their choice. It started to rain after dark, but it was still warm out, so we danced to the Don Campbell band in the rain for a while. And I still got my annual apple crisp at the end of the evening. The perk to the warm weather was that I didn't have to wait in line for twenty minutes to get it!
Owen loved the petting zoo-
the small gray goat in the picture was his favorite

I pass the marigold test... and get a bikini wax
(not at the same time)
Oscar noticed the flowers on his "marigold" after he got home on the bus today. He pointed out right away that they didn't look like Owen's, but then Owen suggested that maybe they were a different kind. Oscar was satisfied with the explanation and was very pleased that his plant had finally bloomed. Phew!
In other news... I had a torturous bikini wax!! Youch. Youchie. Youchers. I'll spare you the rest of the details, but man, did it hurt... (Thank goodness I didn't go "Brazilian!!") Then beautiful, 22-year-old Vanessa politely whispers to me at the desk that I should come in after no more than four weeks next time. Yeahhhh. I call this evening "Demoralization is Key." (Chapter 4 in your bikini-wax-technician handbooks.)

Day at the Ocean
We spent several hours at Crescent Beach, playing in the sand and waves while taking some family photos. The boys had a blast! It was really fun and such a beautiful day. The sun was bright and warm and the air just felt so good. It was windy enough that someone was flying their kite, but it was a warm 72 degrees. Just perfect!

Sunday, September 30
Awesome, laid-back vegging day. Just hanging at home... Skip's cooking a pot roast for dinner and the boys are playing Lego Star Wars. (They just opened the Yoda character and couldn't be happier!) Owen and I played my Sing Star video game earlier- it's like karaoke for the Playstation. It's so much fun!! We sang a duet to Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It." We rocked that song! Perhaps my singing class is paying off. On the other hand, I didn't fare so well singing "We Built This City" by Starship. Maybe we'll switch to playing Uno later...
