I'm not really intending to check in on the blog here only monthly. I've just been all over the place and when I'm not, I'm having a hard time reigning in my energy. But here I am; I know you're counting your lucky stars right now!
So, I've got a job- working for old friends who own a few restaurants here. As far as waiting tables goes, it's been great. The place is pretty busy most of the time and the atmosphere is good... Of course, the mean age of the staff is probably around 22. Which is the age I was the last time I waited on tables. Let me tell you, your body feels a lot differently after a double-shift when you're 34!! I just bought some inserts for my clogs in hopes that my poor feet will ache less. Gosh, I'm starting to sound like an old woman! haha (No offense to my old women readers!! heehee)
It's been weird to be working again. I've been uber-conflicted about hearing about all the cute and/or funny things Skip has done with the boys while I'm busy schlepping chow. But it's been so great for Skip and for the boys, too, to have so much one-on-one time together. So I'm quietly dealing with my mommy emotions and trying not to cry much of the time.
It gets easier every day.
Oscar has been gleefully telling anyone- and everyone- that his mom is a waitress. Which makes me cringe a little bit each time. But, hey, good service is important, right?! And Oscar says it with pride, so it stings a little less to hear it out loud. I'm also hoping to get a part-time job at the local hospital... I'm just waiting for my second interview now... *cross your fingers*

In more interesting news: Keall had her baby last week!! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be in the delivery room as planned, despite my rushing up after a Saturday night shift at work and spending a night in Keall's hospital room- attempting to sleep in a wooden rocking chair. I ended up having to head back to work the next morning for a double-shift without having seen anything exciting. Miss Violet was born later that evening while I was in the midst of my second shift of the day. Rats!

So, okay. Cute stuff is over with. haha Now I have a task for you- let me explain a little first: Skip is trying to get a new audio-visual installation company off the ground. It's been a hobby for a long time and he's really talented at this kind of stuff. Our problem is that he's kind of stuck between two potential names for his new venture. (This is where you come in.) I'll give you the two options, and then it would be awesome if you could vote in the poll at the top of this page for the one you think would be the better business name.

(Note that these are not the color/font he'd use... those are TBD)
This name would be selling Skip as a product (so to speak) just as much as the equipment he'd be installing. Like a stamp of approval... putting his name on the product as sign of confidence, etc. It's similar to builders who use their name- gives people that "Well, he puts his name behind it, so he must be good" feeling.

The Big Picture
This one he came up with while talking with me in the kitchen one morning... We were brainstorming names and thinking about audio-visual components... widescreen TVs... big screens.... big pictures. And then we thought it was fitting because right now we really are having to focus on "the big picture" in our lives. Kind of a double-entendre there.
So there they are. Cast your vote as soon as you can. He needs to get business cards printed up and that's hard to do without a company name! (OR if you happen to have a different name idea that you think is fantastariffic, email it to us for consideration.)

**UPDATE: Since typing the original posting, I've been notified that I got that hospital job I wanted. Yay- health insurance benefits are on the way again, soon!! I'll be working in the neonatal intensive care unit. It will be both stressful and wonderful. I am looking forward to it.
